The Great Treatise on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment (Byang chub lam gyi rim pa chen mo) is an extensive work on the stages of the path written by Tsongkhapa (1357-1419) in 1402.  The text is organized as instruction for three types of beings with increasing levels of spiritual capacity: those who desire a better future rebirth, those who seek liberation for themselves, and those who seek to liberate others by following the bodhisattva path.  The text is largely devoted to the instructions for the third and highest type of practitioner.
